Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Cheri Hoffman received a BA in Psychology from the University of Denver in 1978. From 1994-98, she studied conceptual art and painting at Washington University, School of Art (now the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts).
Hoffmans work is intrinsically connected to a sense of place. Her home and studio have become an integral part of her creative process; the light, space, and architecture of these spaces are inextricably linked and mirrored in her art. Hoffmans images reflect a lifelong study of light, dimension, and form, as well as her deep appreciation for the natural world. Using the alchemy of oil and wax along with pencil, paint and monotype, she explores pattern, texture, and surface. Hoffman lives and works in Saint Louis, Missouri.
